3 Tips to Staging and Selling Your Home

3 Tips to Staging and Selling Your Home

Are you considering listing your home, but don't know where to start? Are you worried that the sale will take time or that you won't get the price you want? Consider “staging” your home or, in other words, setting the stage for the buyer's immediate interest in your property.

To be truly effective, you need to look at both the outside and the inside of your home. Here are 3 tips to get started with the interior of your home:

1. Spoil. It is one of the most important things you can do. It might be easier to think of a clutter like this: You're moving around anyway, so why not start packing now?Pack what you don't need and keep boxes out of sight in the garage (or consider temporarily renting a small storage unit – Most are very affordable & offer month to month options).

2. Organize your closets: assemble like colors, pants together, skirts together, shirts together, etc. Why? Because it will make the cabinets bigger. (Really). An organized closet looks bigger and you want your closets to be as spacious as possible.

3. Make your house look like a model. You want to depersonalize as much as possible so that potential buyers can imagine themselves and their own possessions taking up space in your home. It means minimizing, saving anything you don't need or use. Clean kitchen counters as much as possible - tidy up any unused appliances and place the corresponding small clutter in attractive baskets or boxes

And the best advice of all? Imagine yourself as a potential buyer who is looking at your property for the first time. What impressions do you get? Would you buy your house? What would you like to see changed before you bid on your home?

And don't worry about spending several thousand dollars preparing your home for sale; you will get it all back when your house is sold. Proper staging helps you sell your home in a shorter time frame and at the price you want.
